The town of Huffman has it's own school district; Huffman Independent School District which has two elementary schools one middle school and one high school all located in Huffman Texas. For higher education needs, Lee Community College is an outstanding two year college with a main campus in Baytown, Texas. Bayton is only about 40 minutes away. They say a Mr. David Huffman found the lush area and built his home here as one of the first in 1839. But it wasn´t until 1888 an actual post office was constructed. By 1892 the small town had two blacksmiths. It is difficult to find too much more information about the area other then what the school districts have recorded. From 1914 all the way up to early 2000, population in Huffman was under 250 residents.
